RAWALPINDI: A major theft incident occurred in Rawalpindi’s Bahria Town Phase 8 where burglars broke into a house and looted $10,000, 23,000 Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), and other valuables, the police told on Wednesday.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered with Rawat Police Station, thieves took 45 tolas of gold, a diamond set, sanitary sets, and foreign cash from the house in the owner’s absence.

The resident of Usman D Block said that despite security deployment and only entry and exit of the private housing society, the theft trend is rising.

The in charge of the Bahria Town police checkpost said that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to arrest the accused.

Last week, two armed men snatched a bike at gunpoint from two teenagers in Safari Homes of Bahria Town, Rawalpindi.

As per the CCTV footage, the incident occurred when armed men stopped two boys riding on a bike in the neighborhood and pointed guns at their foreheads demanding to hand over their bike. The boys, realizing the gravity of the situation, promptly complied to avoid harm.
