QUETTA: At least four unidentified bodies riddled with bullets were found in a remote area of Basima in Washuk district on Saturday, spreading panic in the area.
According to police, locals informed the authorities about the bodies, following which law enforcement agencies reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the district hospital.
Doctors confirmed that all four victims were shot multiple times, leading to their deaths. Police believe that the men were killed by unknown assailants before dumping their bodies in a remote area.
The deceased have not yet been identified, though initial reports suggest they may be residents of Sorab. Investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the killings and trace those responsible.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest region by land area and bordering Iran and Afghanistan, has long faced violence from the BLA and other terrorist organizations, and the groups have stepped up attacks during celebrations, targeting both civilians and security forces.
Recently, the Balochistan government suspended mobile internet in all 36 districts ahead of Independence Day due to security concerns and threats from militants.
In 2024, 88 people, including civilians and security personnel, were killed and over 100 injured in violent incidents in Balochistan.
