BERLIN: Germany is currently confronting a gigantic deficit of healthcare workers, which has consequently opened new avenues for Pakistani nurses and other competent workers.
The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has reported that German authorities are willing to take on the Pakistani workforce only if the latter possesses the proper educational and professional qualifications.
The instructions released by BEOE mention that the first and foremost thing for people who want to work in Germany is to get their qualifications recognized officially by the German institutions.
The work visa will not be given without this recognition. During the checking process, the applicant’s educational credentials, job experience, and German language skills are all evaluated. As per the bureau, a B2 level in German is more or less universally regarded as the minimum requirement.
The applicant might be required to take extra courses or equivalency exams if their qualifications fall short of German standards, and the respective German authorities will make the determination.
One thing that should be emphasized is that the nursing crisis in Germany is one of the most severe problems, and it is becoming worse year after year.
In the year 2023, the number of skilled nurses employed in Germany was about 1.69 million, which was 10,000 more than the previous year, but still, the deficit was huge.
The German Federal Employment Agency’s data shows that in the year 2023, there were only 44 candidates available for every 100 nursing vacancies, which is a clear indication of the crisis in the labor market.
The total number of unfilled nursing positions was around 35,000 on average in that particular year. Moreover, in the health sector, a combined total of 47,400 positions would remain unoccupied in the years 2023-2024, including 7,100 nursing staff.
