Sindh govt announces public holidays

1st Muharram to be observed as public holiday across KP

KARACHI: The Sindh government declared a public holiday on October 20 and 21 to commemorate the Hindu festival of Diwali. The move is part of the provincial government’s initiative to celebrate and respect the minority community’s traditions.

A notice by the provincial government stated that all government offices across Sindh province would be closed on Monday, October 20, to enable members of the Hindu community to celebrate the festival of lights.

This move demonstrates the government’s determination to appreciate and respect the cultural and religious traditions of its multiracial population.

Diwali, which is one of Hinduism’s greatest festivals, is enthusiastically celebrated by the Hindu community in Pakistan, and the public holiday is likely to provide individuals with an opportunity to engage in the festivities with their families.
