KARACHI: The Sindh government has recently issued a sort of code of conduct for the collection of sacrificial animal hides during Eid al-Adha.
As per the Sindh Home Department, the act of collecting hides without permission from the commissioners as well as deputy commissioners will be strictly prohibited.
In the notification, it is stated that only registered welfare organizations and madrassas will be allowed to collect hides. Any banned organization will not be allowed to collect hides under any other name, even if they try to rename themselves.
The Home Department has also put a ban on setting up camps and hanging banners for hide collection across Sindh. Along with that, the use of loudspeakers for announcements and also displaying flags on vehicles will not be allowed either.
The notification says in clear terms that collecting hides by force, or using coercion, will be prohibited, and strict action will be taken against the violators. Authorities added that confiscated hides will be handed over to approved welfare organizations, while the police have been authorized to immediately register cases against offenders.
Meanwhile, Karachi authorities have also imposed a full ban on carrying licensed weapons from 10th to 12th Zil Hajj, as part of Eid security measures.
