Eid-ul-Adha holidays in Pakistan

Eid-ul-Adha 2026 likely dates and expected holidays in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The possible dates for the start of Eid-ul-Adha holidays in Pakistan have been revealed, however, the final announcement will be made by the government.

According to the details, it is likely that Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated in Pakistan on May 27, 2026 (Wednesday), however, the final decision will be taken by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. If Eid is celebrated on May 27, then according to government tradition, the holidays can start from May 26 (Tuesday) and the holidays can continue till May 29 (Friday).

With this, government and private employees will be able to enjoy 6 consecutive holidays by combining the official holidays of Saturday and Sunday.

It should be noted that Pakistan’s national space agency Suparco has released astronomical calculations of the moon of the last Islamic month of Zul Hijjah of the year 2026.

According to these calculations, the new moon of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH will appear on May 17, 2026 at 1:01 AM Pakistan time. At sunset on the same day, the age of the moon will be approximately 18 hours and 30 minutes, which is an important factor for moon sighting.

According to Suparco, there will be a 60-minute gap between sunset and moonset in coastal areas, which means there is a clear possibility of moon sighting if the weather is clear.
