LAHORE: Before announcing the new budget, the government has announced good news for employees. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed authorities to accelerate the process of electric vehicle (EV) adoption throughout Pakistan.
He announced that all government employees who hold positions up to Grade 16 will receive electric bikes through a payment plan. He conducted a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday to examine the current status of electric vehicle (EV) development initiatives.
The meeting determined that electric vehicle adoption should decrease fuel import requirements. The study showed that environmental protection will benefit from the implementation of this strategy, while regional energy security needs will receive enhancement.
He demanded that officials create complete visibility regarding electric vehicle subsidies, which the National EV Policy provides. He instructed them to expedite assistance for economically disadvantaged people while they need to speed up the program’s rollout.
The officials presented current electric vehicle (EV) projects to the gathering. The authorities granted 72 manufacturing certificates, which authorized the production of electric motorcycles and rickshaws.
The authorities issued four production licenses, which permitted the creation of electric vehicles. The organization received 123 applications for electric vehicle charging station licenses.
The planners currently target a goal of transforming 30% of vehicles into electric models by the end of five years. The researchers predict that this transition will result in approximately $4.5 billion worth of fuel import savings.
The meeting in Islamabad included attendance from multiple federal ministers. Climate Minister Musadik Malik and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Energy Minister Awais Leghari, and State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani were among the attendees.
The event included participation from high-ranking officials. The Prime Minister explained that these vehicles use battery power to operate without any need for petrol or oil. He stated that these measures help to lessen the burden on various systems.
