IG Islamabad Nasir Rizvi explains reason behind Sana Yousuf’s murder

IG Islamabad Nasir Rizvi explains reason behind Sana Yousuf’s murder

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police Chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has confirmed that 17-year-old TikTok star Sana Yousuf was shot dead after she repeatedly rejected the advances of the main accused Kaka.

During a press conference, the Inspector General said that the murder was a result of a “series of rejections”. He revealed that the accused tried to contact Sana seven to eight times and made several attempts to contact her on her birthday on May 29, including visiting her residence.

“The suspect was angry at being ignored. He refused to talk to her or accept her suggestions,” IG Rizvi said. He added that Sana was killed with two bullets at around 5pm on June 2. The murder weapon and her iPhone have been recovered from Kaka’s possession.

Sana Yousaf was a well-known social media personality, with over 800,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 500,000 on Instagram. Her content mainly consisted of lip-sync videos in Urdu, Hindi and Pashto.

Tragically, her last posts — shared just hours before her death — showed her celebrating her birthday with friends at a local restaurant in Islamabad, cutting a cake and smiling for the camera.

Her murder has sparked outrage online, with users demanding justice and better protection for women.
