Marwat says he will resign from NA seat if asked by Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Wednesday agreed to review the expulsion of Sher Afzal Marwat from the party, here on Wednesday.

Earlier, in a notification endorsed by PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, PTI announced the suspension of membership of Sher Afzal Marwat, whose PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan Denied and termed this notification as fake.

The PTI leadership is divided over the suspension of MNA Sher Afzal Marwat’s primary party membership.

Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership cancellation notification is fake. It is not possible,” he said in response to the report.

“The committee has come to the conclusion that Sher Afzal Marwat does not care about the rules and regulations of the party and considers himself above the party rules, as a result of which the image and narrative of the party has been adversely affected.

“Based on the findings of the committee and their latest statements and complaints received, the committee has recommended termination of their membership and this has been approved by Founder Chairman Imran Khan,” the notification claimed.

It added that the committee also said that if Marwat is an honorable person, he should resign from the National Assembly seat that he won as a PTI nominee and contest again.

It may be mentioned here that PTI leader Marwat received a show cause notice on May 11 for violating the party’s code of conduct and policy.

The notice was issued by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan and Marwat was asked to explain within three days the statements he had made which were considered damaging to the reputation of the party.
