RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, has been released after a brief arrest from Adiala Jail.
His arrest came a day after a heated altercation with police officers at the same location, where he had attempted to meet detained party members. The situation escalated when police tried to disperse PTI supporters gathered outside the facility, leading to Chaudhry’s arrest on Friday.
He was taken into custody for further legal proceedings, with PTI officials condemning the arrest as an act of political victimization, while police maintained that the action was taken by the law.
After his release, Chaudhry stated that party leaders who went to meet with Imran Khan at the respective jail were guided by a court order, but their entry was barred.
We, therefore, went to do a legal consultation, which everyone knows by now. Chaudhry reported that he was denied entry by the police at the jail gate and asked to accompany them and remained subjected to two-and-a-half hours of wrongful detention upon a report received.
He further showed respect towards those workers arrested on 9th May, condemning with vigor the rigged February 8, 2024, elections, saying, “Never are they ever going to accept.”
Chaudhry explained the role of Imran Khan’s letter, implying its importance for the future of the country, containing not merely accusations but undiluted truths, saying the current ruler was unworthy because it had no regard for the interests of people, having not been elected by the people.
