Internet service down again across country

Internet slow in Pakistan: key reason behind outage

ISLAMABAD: Internet users in the country are facing difficulties nationwide, as a large number of users’ internet service has been affected due to a temporary breakdown of a major upstream provider.

As a result of this issue, internet speed has slowed down across the country and online activities are being disrupted.

Naya Tel, issuing a statement on its official social media account, said that the overall internet performance in the country has decreased because one of the company’s two upstream providers is currently inactive. Due to this fault, internet traffic has been affected in several cities of Pakistan and users are facing connectivity problems.

The statement further said that Naya Tel’s technical teams are continuously monitoring the situation and are working in close coordination with the relevant upstream provider to restore the service as soon as possible. However, the company did not clarify when the issue will be completely resolved.

Experts say that during such upstream breakdowns, internet performance across the country may be affected as these providers provide data to various internet service providers. In such situations, online banking, video calls, social media and other online services may be affected.

Users have been appealed to postpone non-essential online activities and wait for updates issued by the company. Nayatel has assured that technical teams are making every effort to ensure that internet service returns to normal as soon as possible.

The issue indicates that Pakistan’s internet infrastructure is largely dependent on a few major upstream providers, due to which a temporary issue with a single provider can affect connectivity across the country.
