Ishaq Dar lands in Jeddah, set to attend important OIC session

RIYADH: Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in Jeddah on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, where he will attend a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar was welcomed by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ambassador Fawad Sher, Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, and Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani at King Abdulaziz International Airport upon his arrival in Jeddah.

The extraordinary open-ended ministerial meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will consider the latest regional and global challenges facing the member states. In this regard, Pakistan is likely to present its position on important issues.

According to the Foreign Office, the Deputy Prime Minister will also hold meetings with the foreign ministers of various member states on this occasion, in which cooperation, issues facing the Muslim Ummah, and the regional situation are expected to be discussed.

Ishaq Dar’s visit is being described as important in the context of Pakistan’s effective representation at the important diplomatic forum of the Muslim world.
