Islamabad authorities seal Red Zone

ISLAMABAD: In anticipation of Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) “Gaza Marchtoday, April 20, the Islamabad administration has taken strict steps to ensure the security of the protestors.

To maintain law and order in the city, the Islamabad authorities have placed several containers blocking the access to Red zone, special varred wires have also been put into place to add extra security measures, thus limiting the access of local residents.

Additionally, the police officials have issued a warning, stating that anyone who does not abide by the law will be given strict punishment. The authorities have banned any political gathering in the federal capital especially in the areas near governmental buildings.

The increased security measures come due to the timings of the rally which coincides with the timings of Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.

In addition, a number of foreign delegates have recently visited Islamabad, and more are on the way, so additional safety measures are required.

JI Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman called the rally with the intention of demonstrating support for Palestine. As part of a worldwide call for Gaza, the JI chief has also declared a nationwide strike for Tuesday, April 22, which could result in additional security arrangements throughout the nation.

To keep Islamabad peaceful and orderly and avoid any unfortunate incidents during the rally, the authorities are doing everything they can.
