Islamabad blast: Security forces arrest four in bomber’s residence raid

ISLAMABAD: The Peshawar police have arrested four persons, including a brotherly duo and their sister, associated with the suicide bomber who was involved in the gory attack in an imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area on Friday.

These arrests were made after a raid at the bomber’s home, then moved to a discreet location for further interrogation.

Identification of the bomber, according to initial reports quoting a National Identity Card found at the site of the blast, was Yasir, son of Bahadur Khan. Yasir, reportedly affiliated with ISIS, has spent five months in Afghanistan, where he received weapon training as well as preparation for the suicide attack.

Special teams, including officials from CTD, have been formed to trace the planners and abettors of the attack.

The suicide bombing at the imambargah in Islamabad had left at least 32 people dead, whereas 169 others were injured. Some of the victims were laid to rest on Saturday.

A report from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, PIMS, revealed that 28 bodies and 121 injured individuals were brought to the hospital following the attack.

Earlier, the bomber involved in the suicide attack on the Imambargah located in the Tarlai area of the federal capital Islamabad, has been identified.

Government sources say that, according to reliable information, the suicide bomber received training in terrorist acts from Afghanistan. The suicide bomber has traveled to Afghanistan several times and came from Afghanistan some time ago.

The terrorist groups present in Afghanistan are a threat to the security of the region under the auspices of the Taliban regime. Behind every terrorist act in Pakistan, there is a nexus between Afghanistan and India.

The entire nation stands like a leaden wall in front of such cowardly acts. Attacks on mosques and innocent citizens cannot shake the resolve of the Pakistani nation.
