ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued a bailable arrest warrant for National Assembly Opposition Leader and PTI leader Omar Ayub in a case pertaining to a protest held in October 2024.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra presided over the hearing of a case filed at the Shahzad Town police station against several party leaders, including Senator Azam Swati, Omar Ayub, and other PTI workers, for clashing with police during the October 4 protest.
During the hearing, the court issued a bailable arrest warrant for Ayub and cancelled any previous bail granted to suspects who failed to appear in today’s hearing.
However, Senator Azam Swati was granted an exemption from personal attendance, following a request submitted the previous day.
Advocates Sardar Masroof Khan, Zahid Bashir Dar, Murtaza Toori, and Mirza Asim were among the lawyers present on the PTI leaders’ behalf.
Subsequently, the court adjourned further proceedings until July 30.
