RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has ordered the arrest and presentation of opposition leader Omar Ayub in court in the November 26 protest case.
ATC Judge, Justice Amjad Ali Shah, rejected the interim bail plea of senior PTI leader Omar Ayub, who faces charges related to the PTI protest and long march on November 26 in Islamabad.
Ayub’s counsel Dr. Babar Awan failed to appear in court.
Meanwhile, the court extended the interim bail for Sanam Javed and 27 arrested PTI workers involved in the same cases.
Thousand of protestors broke through the security barriers and entered Islamabad demanding the release of imprisoned Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, responding to the call of a sit-in on November 26.
A case was filed against former premier Imran Khan, his wife Bushra BiBi, Former President Arif Alvi, and other senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf over the invocation of article 245 of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The charges were filed at Police Station Taxila under Pakistan anti-terrorism laws.
Eminent PTI members named in the case include opposition leader Omar Ayub, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur, Aleema Khan, and former minister Azam Swati. Over 300 local PTI leaders and workers were also implicated in the case.
