ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Food Authority has successfully foiled an attempt to supply adulterated milk in the twin cities, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson, after destroying 9,000 liters of adulterated milk brought to Rawalpindi, Islamabad, the owners of 11 milk-carrying vehicles were fined more than Rs0.3 million.
As part of a roadblock intended to stop the sale of contaminated milk, the teams examined 33 milk-carrying vehicles as directed by the Director General of PFA.
The milk was found to be highly diluted with water and devoid of natural nutrients, as evidenced by the samples taken. During the process, almost 223,000 gallons of milk underwent extensive testing.
The DG Food Authority stated, “This is part of our daily vigilance,” highlighting the continuous inspection of milk vehicles to protect public health. He closed by saying that PFA was fully dedicated to ensuring that customers throughout the region have access to safe and nourishing milk.
