JUI-F to stay neutral in KP power struggle, affirms Hafiz Hamdullah

ISLAMABAD: Senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah, while talking to ABN News at the program ‘Debate @ 8’, said that his party will not be part of the no-confidence motion against the current Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur.

He said that JUI is a political and democratic party that takes its own decisions. “We have institutions that decide the policy, and at this time our position is that we are not interested in overthrowing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government or bringing about change.”

Hafiz Hamdullah criticized Ali Amin Gandapur’s performance and said that the performance of 16 months has been zero; however, the decision to change the Chief Minister is not in the hands of the PTI or the provincial government, but with the forces that put him in office.

According to him, “As long as these forces are satisfied, Ali Amin will remain the Chief Minister, and if the NOC is withdrawn, a change is possible.”

Talking about federal politics, Hafiz Hamdullah said that the current government is also running under the ‘same page’ policy. “As long as this same page remains in the country, governments remain in place. As soon as there is a crack in it, the process of change begins.”

On a question about Shehbaz Sharif’s government, he said that Shehbaz Sharif is an expert in staying on the same page, but no prime minister in the history of Pakistan has been able to complete his term, so nothing can be said with certainty.

On the news of Mohsin Naqvi becoming the potential prime minister, he said that if the decision-making forces want it, it is possible, but for this, large-scale compromises will have to be made among political parties.

On the possible rollback of the 18th Constitutional Amendment and the discussion of the 27th Amendment, he said that, in principle, this should not be acceptable, but if the politics of “take and give” continues in the country, then everything is possible.

Regarding possible links with PTI, Hafiz Hamdullah said that history is a witness that no political party or leader can be defeated through force. “There were attempts to defeat Bhutto, Benazir, and Nawaz Sharif, but they returned to politics. Today, Imran Khan is considered successful even though he is in jail.”

Regarding the post of opposition leader, he said that this post should go to the party that has a majority in parliament. “JUI does not have a majority at this time, so this post becomes the right of some other party.”
