Karachi Airport’s main runway partially closed for a month for THIS reason

Karachi Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced on Thursday that the main runway of the country’s largest airport, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, will be closed for one month from Monday to Friday during specific hours.

The closure is intended to remove rubber fragments that have come loose from airplane tires. Details indicate that the runway at Jinnah International Airport will be closed from April 4 to May 3 for maintenance.

The closure schedule for the runway maintenance is as follows:

  • Monday: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
  • Tuesday: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Wednesday: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Thursday: 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM

The notification further stated that during this time, aircraft will be able to take off and land on the secondary runway of the airport. Previously, the authorities had closed the Sialkot Airport for 13 days.

The manager of the airport says that the shutdown would take place from May 6 to May 18.

However, several airlines were forced to cancel flights during the month of Ramadan because of low passenger numbers.
