KARACHI: A clash between two religious parties in Karachi’s Awami Colony area of Korangi turned violent, leaving six people injured after aerial firing broke out, according to local reports.
Tensions escalated rapidly, causing chaos in the area, but thankfully, a large contingent of police quickly arrived to control the situation.
Law enforcement personnel have been deployed throughout the area to prevent further incidents, and authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control. An investigation into the cause of the clash is currently underway.
In addition, to maintain law and order and ensure public safety, the Karachi administration has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code across the city for four days, from October 13 to October 17.
This ban prohibits gatherings of five or more people, processions, and public meetings, following a request from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, who cited potential threats to peace.
This isn’t the first time Section 144 has been imposed in Pakistan to maintain public order. Historically, this section has restricted public gatherings and protests, often citing national security or potential threats to peace.
