Karachi weather forecast: PMD predicts heavy monsoon rain today

KARACHI: A strong monsoon system is drenching areas of Pakistan’s financial capital, Karachi with flooding likely in low-lying areas in the coming days.

As per the details, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that a new weather system currently located 290 km from the metropolis is likely to bring significant rainfall on Thursday.

The temperature in the provincial capital is between 26-30 degrees Celsius with high humidity.

The Met Chief warned of possible urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad and other areas. Additionally, thunderstorms and rain of varying intensity, from scattered heavy to isolated very heavy showers, are expected.

The Sindh government has also established a Rain Emergency Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office to monitor the situation in Karachi and other parts of the province. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed all divisional commissioners to be on alert in view of the expected heavy rain this week.
