Karachi Police constable arrested for ‘heading’ vehicle snatching gang

Four 'Raw agents' arrested

KARACHI: The Anti-Vehicles Lifting Cell (AVLC) of Karachi Police on Thursday arrested a serving police constable for allegedly heading a gang involved in stealing luxury vehicles from the city’s posh areas.

AVLC Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bashir Ahmed Brohi said that the gang was responsible for snatching multiple high-end vehicles, including an SUV of a television actress.

According to police statement, the actress’s car and another car snatched from Ferozabad were recovered from a constable, along with an official weapon and narcotics.

The suspect, posted at the police’s Foreign Security Cell, along with his accomplices, allegedly stole a Toyota Fortuner SUV from Korangi on June 26, 2024, and another Toyota Fortuner from Bukhari Commercial DHA on October 7, 2024, the AVLC SSP said.

“After an encounter, Quetta police arrested one suspected member of the gang and had recovered that vehicle from their possession,” the police official added.

The arrested constable, Rana Kashif, has reportedly confessed to having snatched over two dozen vehicles from posh areas, which were being sold and sent to Balochistan.

Furthermore, AVLC confirmed that the gang snatched a Toyota Fortuner belonging to a famous TV actress from Khayaban-e-Mohafiz in DHA on February 6, 2025.

It has also been revealed that a Suzuki Alto was seized by the gang at gunpoint in the Ferozabad area last year, which has been recovered from the gang.

The suspect also admitted the theft of over two dozen luxury cars. Police are conducting raids to arrest remaining members of the gang and recover more stolen vehicles.
