KP govt introduces laptop scheme for students with visual disabilities

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a special laptop scheme for blind and visually impaired students.

According to the details, under this scheme, blind and visually impaired students who are studying in colleges, universities or religious madrasas can apply. To apply, they must be a permanent resident of the province and have a disability certificate issued by the Social Welfare Department.

The aim of the scheme is to provide modern technology to deserving students who are studying in recognized educational institutions, and laptops will be given on the basis of merit, subject to the availability of funds.

Applications will be received through the government’s online MIS system, which is available on the official website of the Social Welfare Department. Officials have said that the selection process will be based on merit and academic performance.

An official of the Social Welfare Department said that this initiative reflects the provincial commitment to ensure equality in educational opportunities by providing modern digital devices to disabled students.
