Lahore biker fined Rs 150, 000 for traffic violations

Lahore traffic officers’ leaves cancelled ahead Ramadan

LAHORE: Traffic police have fined a motorcyclist Rs154,000 for violating traffic rules 86 times, here on Wednesday.

As per the details, a traffic police spokesperson said the motorcyclist was fined 73 times for not wearing a helmet, nine times for violating traffic signals, three times for violating one-way traffic and once for violating lane discipline.

He said the motorcyclist’s motorcycle has been impounded at the police station for repeated violations. The motorcycle will be returned to the person only after paying the fine.

This is the highest fine ever imposed on any motorcyclist. The e-challan system is in place for 19 violations of traffic rules.

Traffic authorities in Lahore have stepped up their crackdown on repeat violations to ensure road safety.

Earlier this year, authorities introduced AI-based e-challans, a technological innovation to automate the detection and enforcement of traffic violations.
