LAHORE: In a recent update, the Lahore administration has put a complete ban on fireworks and aerial shows on New Years Eve considering the city smog and the alarming pollution levels in the province.
Department issued a notification announcing the ban on all types of fireworks and aerial displays, and Deputy Commissioner Lahore has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the ban.
The city administration has clarified that health and environment protection is their top priority, and this ban aims at reducing air pollution and protecting public health. By doing so, the government is asking citizens to join their hands in an efforts to prevent smog and reduce air pollution.
It’s a very critical move, given that the smog level hits its peak during the winter season. Meanwhile, in Karachi, AIG Javed Alam Odho has cautioned citizens who have planned aerial firing on New Year‘s Eve.
He warned that aerial firing incidents occurring on New Year’s Eve would be registered in the police case books under the attempted murder section and asked the citizens to inform the police immediately in case such incidents occur.
Odho has issued this warning after a horrifying incident last year, when aerial firing on New Year’s Eve in Karachi caused Karachi caused injuries to 31 people. Several people had been booked because of this incident. The AIG advised the people to not engage in aerial firing and enjoy their New Year celebrations peacefully and responsibly.
The public should hold responsibility for themselves while celebrating New Year and look into public safety and health as an utmost priority, so everyone would be safe in the celebrations.
