Lahore weather: Light rain brings respite from heat

LAHORE: Lahore received light rain on Saturday morning with cool winds, which made the weather pleasant and relieved the heat of the previous days.

As per the details, Laxmi Chowk, Abbott Road, Shimla Pahari, Garhi Shahu, Canal Road, Mall Road, Defence, Ferozepur Road, Peco Road, Ghazi Road, Kalma Chowk and Gulberg received light rain.

After the rains, the weather in Lahore turned pleasant and a slight drop in temperature was also recorded, bringing an end to the humid and hot weather.

In different areas of Punjab Pattoki, Daska, Nowshera Virkan, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala and Shahkot and surrounding areas also received rain with strong winds and thunder which ended the summer season.

Heavy rains also occurred in Shergarh, Pakpattan and adjoining areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of more rain in Lahore and its surroundings during the next 24 hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature of the city today was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature is expected to go up to 32 degrees Celsius. The humidity level is 90%, which contributes to the hot and sticky weather.

Lahore is currently ranked 6th in the global air pollution index, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 129, indicating a moderate level of pollution in the city.

Thunderstorm/thunderstorm is likely over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast/Central Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next twelve hours.

Heavy rain/hailstorm is likely at a few places in Upper Punjab, Islamabad and Kashmir.

Weather is likely to remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.
