Malik Riaz’s family blames Kamran Khan for Nukta’s failure: Sources

Nukta 37 employees restructuring

ISLAMABAD: The tensions between property tycoon Malik Riaz and senior journalist Kamran Khan have grown over the failure of Nukta, sources said, a day after the company sacked 37 employees.

Sources close to Malik Riaz have revealed that his family, including son Ali Riaz, has reportedly blamed Kamran Khan for the failure of the digital media venture Nukta.

According to insiders, Ali Riaz was initially skeptical about appointing Kamran Khan as the head of the project.

The same sources alleged that Kamran Khan, who now resides in Dubai with his family, used Nukta as a platform to secure golden visas and settle abroad along with his family.

Earlier, Nukta, which was launched last year, announced its decision to dismiss 37 employees to reduce its “Pakistan workforce” as part of a recent organisational restructuring.

According to the sources, the digital media outlet, owned by Malik Riaz, laid off employees due to a financial crisis. The sudden restructuring has sent a wave of concern amongst the employees.

In a statement issued on its LinkedIn account, Nukta said the decision was made to ensure “long-term sustainability” and reaffirmed its commitment to its broader regional vision.

Meanwhile, after the development, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, on Wednesday announced that the government will provide the dismissed Nukta employees new jobs within 48 hours.
