LAHORE: The annual matriculation examinations have started regularly across the province from today, in which more than 250,000 candidates are participating.
On the first day of the examinations, papers of Arabic, Geography and History of Pakistan are being taken.
A total of 880 examination centers have been set up for conducting the examinations, out of which 26 centers are being monitored by CCTV cameras to ensure transparency.
According to the authorities, Section 144 has been imposed in all the examination centers and no unrelated person will be allowed to enter the examination centers. Candidates are also being allowed to enter the examination hall only after verification of identity.
According to the schedule, the last matriculation paper of Punjabi and Islamic History will be taken on April 16, while the ninth grade examinations will begin on April 17.
The administration says that strict measures have been taken to prevent cheating and make the examination system transparent so that a fair environment can be provided to students.
