ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has issued new and clear instructions to passengers following the increasing incidents of Pakistani citizens travelling abroad being offloaded at airports, despite having a visa.
According to the Interior Ministry, it is the responsibility of every passenger to convince the immigration authorities, and if a citizen’s information or documents are insufficient, immigration officers can stop him from travelling.
These steps are being taken to improve Pakistan’s international reputation and image.
The ministry said that some citizens, especially Senegalese, try to travel abroad through illegal or dubious means, which affects the reputation of the country. To prevent such incidents, thorough screening of passengers has been made necessary.
Mandatory conditions for passengers
- Return ticket,
- Hotel booking,
- Bank account details,
- Complete and verified travel documents.
Immigration authorities will conduct strict screening of every passenger to prevent any illegal activity, human trafficking, or suspicious travel and ensure that the passenger does not face any disruption or offloading during his/her journey.
In recent days, there have been several incidents of Pakistanis being offloaded at airports, videos and reports of which have gone viral on social media.
In this context, the Ministry of Interior has appealed to citizens to keep all necessary documents complete before traveling to avoid any untoward situation.
According to the ministry, these measures will not only ensure the safety of passengers but will also strengthen Pakistan’s positive image and perception of a responsible state globally.
