ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs1.79 per unit in the power tariffs in the country.
This will come into effect from January 1 after approval from the federal government.
NEPRA further states that “the result of the petition for the increase in the tariff rate from 6% to 10% for a period of three years” has also been dispatched to the federal government, and the increased tariff rate shall
Currently, the average base rate for units of electricity is fixed at Rs31.59.
NEPRA, however, has declared a reduction of 93 paisa per unit by way of Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) due to last month’s fuel prices.
This will be seen in electricity bills of power consumers across the country, including Karachi, effective from the bills.
Lifeline consumers, however, will not receive the effect of the Fuel Price Adjustment.
