Pakistan accepts invitation to join Gaza Peace Board

ISLAMABAD: In a groundbreaking move, Pakistan has formally accepted the invitation to join the Board of Peace to support the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“In response to the invitation extended to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif by the President of the United States, H.E. Donald J. Trump, Pakistan would like to announce its decision to join the Board of Peace (BoP) as part of its ongoing efforts to support the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan under the framework of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803,” according to the statement.

The statement added that “Pakistan expresses the hope that with the creation of this framework, concrete steps will be taken towards the implementation of a permanent ceasefire, further scaling up of humanitarian aid for the Palestinians, as well as reconstruction of Gaza.”

“Pakistan also hopes that these efforts will lead to the realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Palestine, through a credible, time-bound political process, consistent with international legitimacy and relevant UN resolutions, resulting in the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” the statement reads.

The statement further added that “Pakistan looks forward to continuing to play a constructive role as part of the Board of Peace for the achievement of these goals as well as to end the suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.”

According to the details, the move aims to help secure a permanent ceasefire, expand humanitarian aid, and support Gaza’s reconstruction.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump’s proposed administrative and diplomatic measures, such as the GPP (Gaza Peace Plan) and the Peace Board / Board of Peace under it, were under discussion for the end of the war in Gaza and Palestine.

In the same vein, President Trump has sent invitations to heads of various countries to become part of this proposed Peace Board and participate in joint efforts towards stability, aid access, restoration of basic facilities, and a long-term political solution after the ceasefire. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has also received an invitation to join this proposed board.

This news is not only very positive and prestigious but also a successful diplomatic development. The Prime Minister of Pakistan receiving an invitation to such a global platform is a sign that Pakistan’s international reputation, diplomatic weight, and trust have increased.

This success is the result of consistent state diplomacy, timely coordination, and effective strategy in line with national interests, which includes coordinated efforts of civil diplomacy as well as military diplomacy.

Pakistan is seen as a responsible, mature, and solution-oriented party.
