RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has destroyed the ammunition support infrastructure of the Afghan Taliban regime in Bagram as part of ongoing operations against terrorist elements, security sources said.
According to sources, the action was carried out under Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq, which they said targets militant groups involved in attacks inside Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security officials maintained that the operation is not directed against the Afghan people but focuses solely on terrorist networks.
They said intelligence-based operations are being conducted across the border, with efforts made to avoid civilian casualties while targeting militant hideouts.
Sources claimed that mid-level leadership of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has been eliminated during the strikes, adding that more than 50 targeted strikes have been carried out so far.
Officials further stated that Pakistan has destroyed 226 militant checkpoints in Afghanistan and captured 36 others during the course of the operation.
Security sources alleged that militant groups operating from Afghan territory were behind several recent incidents, including attacks in Bajaur, Tarlai Mosque, and Wana.
They also cited a United Nations report claiming that around 22 terrorist organizations are currently active in Afghanistan.
According to the sources, Pakistan has demanded that the Afghan authorities hand over the leadership of the TTP to Islamabad. They reiterated that Pakistan’s objective is to eliminate terrorism and ensure that Afghan soil is not used for attacks against Pakistan.
Officials emphasized that Pakistan has no intention of occupying Afghanistan and that the future of the country should be decided by the Afghan people themselves.
