PM dissmisses FBR Grade 20 offficer Rana Waqar Ali over corruption charges

FBR establishes new customs station at Pak-Iran border

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the dismissal of Rana Waqar Ali, a Grade 20 officer of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

According to sources, this decision was taken after a detailed inquiry in which allegations of incompetence, misconduct and corruption were proven against the officer.

Sources say that formal disciplinary action was taken against Rana Waqar Ali, for which Grade 21 IRS officer Amna Hassan was appointed as the inquiry officer.

The inquiry officer in his report found all the allegations against Rana Waqar Ali correct and recommended his dismissal from service.

Based on the report, a show cause notice was issued to Rana Waqar Ali, while the Prime Minister appointed Grade 22 senior officer Syed Nadeem Hussain Rizvi as the hearing officer.

According to sources, the hearing officer gave the accused officer a full opportunity to come clean.

After completing all legal requirements, the Prime Minister issued an order to dismiss the officer.

Sources say that Rana Waqar Ali has the right to appeal against the dismissal and he can file an appeal with the appellate authority within 30 days.
