Pakistan Digital Authority

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has ordered the formation of a search and selection committee for recommending the appointment of members of the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA).

The committee is formed for the members of the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act.

The act was approved in January 2025 for the transformation of the country into a “digital nation” by enabling a digital society, digital economy, and digital governance. The bill was approved by the federal cabinet in June 2024.

The Search committee shall conduct interviews and appoint a chairperson and two members of the PDA. Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja will chair the committee, according to a notification issued today by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.

The other members of the search committee include the federal minister for the economic division, secretaries of the cabinet, establishment, and the IT and Telecom division.

The committee will recommend three candidates for each position and make recommendations regarding the salaries and benefits of the chairman and members.

Under the Digital Nation Bill, three new bodies shall be formed. The PDA will consist of two members and a chairperson to monitor the national digital master plan. This authority will also establish a monitoring and evaluation framework for digital transformation projects.

The IT minister, with secretaries of IT, finance, and planning, and representatives from the private sector as its members, will monitor the strategic oversight committee
