Political realignments intensify in Gilgit-Baltistan ahead of elections

GILGIT: BALTISTAN: Political maneuvering has intensified in Gilgit-Baltistan following the announcement of party tickets, as several dissatisfied leaders have begun switching political affiliations.

Former Deputy Speaker and PPP Gilgit-Baltistan Information Secretary Sadia Danish’s aunt, along with her family, has joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Former Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Syed Amjad Zaidi has joined the Islamic Tehreek Pakistan after failing to secure a ticket from the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Similarly, PPP leader Wazir Hassan from Rondu has left the party and joined the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz after being denied a ticket.

In another development, former Finance Minister Javed Ali Manwa from Nagar constituency 5 has also joined PML-N.

According to political sources, several other disgruntled leaders and workers across various constituencies are actively considering changing party loyalties, indicating further political shifts in the region in the coming days.
