ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Azad Kashmir has announced its non-participation in the strike called by the Joint Public Action Committee on September 29 and has strictly instructed its workers to stay away from this protest call completely.
PPP Azad Kashmir President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin has said that the Joint Public Action Committee is following India’s agenda.
“No scoundrel can be allowed to spread chaos in Azad Kashmir,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.
He said that the PPP will not participate in the strike on September 29, and its workers have been strictly instructed to stay away from this protest.
Chaudhry Yasin warned that if any worker participates in the strike or protest, strict action will be taken against them.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of PPP Azad Kashmir President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, in which Secretary General Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Information Secretary Javed Ayub, Nabila Ayub, Javed Bhadanvi, PPP Central Secretary General Humayun Khan and other leaders participated.
Chaudhry Yasin said that the PPP’s stance has always been clear that the parliamentary system, which was given by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, will be protected at all costs.
“No group can be allowed to sabotage this system,” he added, adding that the PPP took historic steps in the field of development in Azad Kashmir.
A medical college and five universities were established, from which about four hundred students graduated. Similarly, health and education packages were also provided to the people.
“It has always been a policy of delivery,” Chaudhry Yasin claimed.
Speaking on the Kashmir cause, he said that the PPP played a key role in the freedom movement in every era. “Bhutto, Benazir and Bilawal highlighted the cause of the Kashmiri people on the global stage.
The way Bilawal Bhutto presented the struggle for justice to the world is a reflection of the clear stance of the PPP.” He said that Pakistan is a strong defense force and a democratic country, and the PPP is the guarantor of this stability.
On the other hand, Secretary General Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said that Azad Kashmir is a sensitive region, and when the action committee comes on the streets and paralyzes the system, the enemy country gets an opportunity for propaganda.
“A front is set up against Pakistan on the Indian media, and in some places, Pakistan and India are shown as equals.” Faisal Mumtaz clarified that the public mandate is obtained only through local elections and the assembly, and not by gathering a few thousand people and shutting down the system.
He said that the PPP had supported the February 4 Charter of Demands, which included basic issues like flour and electricity, but it was inappropriate to make constitutional amendments and powers a part of the protest.
He further said that the state structure could not be damaged through protests, and the PPP’s weight with the Action Committee was negligible. “We do our own politics, not on anyone’s agenda,” Faisal Mumtaz Rathore added.
