LAHORE: A sigh of relief for thousands of hardworking families as parents used to worry about how they would meet the huge expenses of their children’s weddings.
The government has now increased the marriage grant for labourers to Rs 6 lakh, turning worries into hope overnight.
The labour department has confirmed a major increase of Rs 200,000 in the marriage grant for labourers’ children. It was earlier Rs 400,000 and has now increased to Rs 600,000.
The Punjab government has also increased the death grant, the assistance given to the families of deceased labourers. From Rs 800,000 to an impressive Rs 1,000,000. The development is aimed at providing meaningful financial stability to grieving families at a critical time.
A government spokesman said the decision reflects a new commitment to the working class, ensuring they have strong financial support for important life events.
