Punjab storms: 3 dead, dozens injured in rain and wind damage

Islamabad weather: Strong wind, rain expected in federal capital

LAHORE: Torrential rain and windstorms across Punjab in the last 24 hours have caused loss of life and property in various cities.

According to Rescue Punjab spokesperson Farooq Ahmed, a total of 3 people have died and 17 have been injured in various incidents of roof, house and wall collapse across Punjab in the last 24 hours.

One person died and 4 were injured in roof collapses at two different places in Bhakkar. One person died and 2 were injured in roof collapses in Taunsa Sharif. One person lost his life due to electrocution from an electric pole during the rain in Toba Tek Singh.

The Rescue Punjab spokesperson said that in other cities, 5 people were injured in the collapse of a hotel shed in DG Khan, while 2 people were injured in Khanewal and Muzaffargarh due to roof collapse and landslides respectively. In Sargodha, one person was injured and one cattle was killed in a wall collapse, while one person was also injured in Chiniot.

According to the rescue spokesman, all the seriously injured have been transferred to nearby hospitals after being provided with immediate medical assistance.
