Punjab: Strict action ordered against traffic violations

Lahore traffic fines likely to see major reduction proposal

LAHORE: Punjab DIG Traffic has issued instructions to district officers across the province to prevent accidents and ensure strict implementation of traffic laws.

The instructions state that the licenses of drivers involved in fatal accidents should be canceled, while cases should be registered against those driving without licenses.

The DIG Traffic further directed that additional personnel be deployed in areas where accidents occur repeatedly so that the laws are better implemented and risks can be reduced.

He also ordered that vehicles violating one-way traffic should be seized and fined, while strict action should be taken against motorcyclists not wearing helmets and drivers not using seat belts.

Furthermore, instructions have been given to take action against drivers using mobile phones while driving and to ensure lane discipline so that the flow of traffic can be improved.
