LAHORE: The government of Punjab has decided to go paperless in all government offices in Punjab as one of the steps it is taking towards encouraging the e-governance culture.
The move came after a Secretaries’ conference that was held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Punjab. At the meeting were top-level provincial officers, while the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners attended via video link.
At the meeting, the chief secretary ordered all district-level offices to interface with the e-filing system, referred to as e-Faas, to ensure that all government communication takes place electronically.
Announcing that with effect from July 1, he said all field offices in Punjab would be using e-Faas as their medium of government communication.
The meeting also took stock of developments in the area of IT reforms and digital governance. The officials expressed satisfaction over the performance of PITB, which helped to facilitate many IT reforms in the province.
As per the officials, the move towards going paperless will help make administrative procedures more efficient, speedy, and transparent.
