ISLAMABAD: Raja Riaz, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf dissident elected from Faisalabad, is poised to become next opposition leader as the election for the seat will be nearing soon.
Source privy to development informed that Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Moonis Elahi has taken back his documents for the seat, hence leaving the contest between Riaz and Grand Democratic Alliance’s Ghuas Baksh Maher.
As Maher enjoys support of three while Raja has backing of as many as 17, it is very much clear that the elected MNA from Faisalabad will take the seat.
Riaz, who is a member of the Jahangir Tareen Group, did not support PTI chief Imran Khan duing the no-confidence motion. He said that he acted in “accordance with his conscience.”
PTI members who stayed at the Sindh House included Raja Riaz, Nawab Sher Waseer, Rana Qasim Noon, Ghaffar Wattoo, Noor Alam Khan, Riaz Mazari, Basit Bukhari, Khawaja Sheraz, Ahmad Hasan Dehar, Nuzhat Pathan, and Wajeeha Akram.
