School holiday announced in Shakargarh on February 18

Punjab announces austerity measures, suts salaries and fuel budget

NAROWAL: The local administration has declared a holiday in educational institutions in Shakargarh Tehsil of Narowal district on February 18 (Tuesday).

The holiday was announced ahead of the visit of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday, where she will inaugurate some mega projects and road rehabilitation projects.

The local administration has verbally directed the public and private educational institutions to remain closed on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Sindh government announced a public holiday on February 19 to mark the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department Sindh shared a notification, stating that all government and semi-government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on the day.

In anticipation of the large gathering, the district administration declared a public holiday in Jamshoro district on February 17 to accommodate the influx of pilgrims in Sehwan.

The 773rd annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar began in Sehwan Sharif on Monday.

The three-day event features traditional rituals, including the ceremonial ghusal of the saint’s shrine, the qawwali performances, and dhamal.
