Schools and colleges in Islamabad closed for 4 days

Balochistan govt announces Ashura holidays

ISLAMABAD: Educational institutions in Islamabad will remain closed for four days as authorities have declared local holidays in the federal capital on April 9 and 10.

The Islamabad administration has declared local holidays on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday and Sunday are already holidays in most schools and colleges, giving students a total of four days of vacation.

The decision was made in a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate Islamabad, according to which these holidays will be observed within the revenue limits of Islamabad. However, essential government offices and public service institutions will continue to function.

The move has been taken due to strict administrative and security measures in view of the high-level diplomatic activities expected in Islamabad.

According to reports, Pakistan is going to host talks between the US and Iran in the coming days, which are taking place after the recent two-week ceasefire between the two countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also welcomed the ceasefire and invited both countries to hold talks in Islamabad, giving the capital an important diplomatic role.
