Sindh cabinet approves increase in salary, pension for govt employees in budget 2025-26

Pakistan budget to provide relief to salaried class & businesses

KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet approved the budget proposal for an increase in salaries for government employees across various pay scales for the next fiscal year 2025-26.

Earlier today, the Sindh cabinet, during its pre-budget meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, approved the budget 2026-25 with the outlay of Rs 3451.87 billion for the next fiscal year.

The government spokesperson said that CM Murad Ali Shah will present the budget for the next financial year in the provincial assembly today at 3 pm.

According to sources, the cabinet has approved a 12 per cent salary increase for employees in grades 1 to 16, and a 10 per cent hike for employees in grades 17 to 22.

A seven per cent rise in pension for retired government employees in the budget was also sanctioned.

In the budget, the allocation for development schemes is proposed to rise from Rs493 billion to Rs520 billion, and Rs55 billion may be allocated for district-level development projects.

The budget anticipates Rs366 billion in foreign funding and Rs76 billion from the federal Annual Development Programme (ADP).

The cabinet has also approved an increase in the education budget by 12% for the next fiscal year 2025-26, rising from Rs458 billion to Rs523 billion.
