ISLAMABAD: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has cancelled the provisional No Objection Certificate (NOC) for sale and advertisement previously issued to Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) on September 19, 2022.
According to an official notification issued, the decision was taken following adverse orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in CMA 8758/2018, dated November 23, 2023. The cancellation was also related to BTK’s failure to submit the title of the land and default in payment of installments of Rs. 460 billion by August 31, 2026.
The notification highlighted that such defaults and legal violations jeopardize the security of 16,896 acres of land, thus nullifying the basis of the SBCA’s earlier provisional NOC.
Citing its authority under Section 4 of the SBCO 1979, the SBCA said that the continuation of NOC for BTK would not only mislead the public but also condone illegality. The decision to withdraw the certificate with immediate effect was taken in the 20th meeting of the authority held on September 3, 2025.
“You are therefore directed to refrain from selling, purchasing, booking, or advertising plots/built units in BTK,” the notice directed.
However, the SBCA assured that the interests of the existing allottees would be protected as per the Supreme Court’s directions.
