KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on Friday, April 4, to mark the 46th death anniversary of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
A notification issued by the Sindh Chief Secretary stated that “all government offices, autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils in the province will remain closed.”
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will hold a major gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the occasion of the death anniversary of the party founder. A large number of workers and supporters from across the country are expected to attend.
The holiday is followed by the Eid-ul-Fitr break, which was observed from March 31 to April 2, 2025.
As per details, the current supreme of the party and President Asif Zardari is unlikely to attend the ceremony as he is currently in isolation following a COVID-19 diagnosis.
Physician Dr Asim Hussain said that President Zardari is being closely observed, with multiple tests conducted to evaluate his condition.
“The president is under the care of infectious disease specialists at a private hospital. All meetings with the president have been strictly restricted due to his health condition,” he said.
