Sindh govt minimum monthly wage

KARACHI: The Sindh government has issued an official notification setting the minimum monthly wage at Rs 40,000 for workers in all industrial and commercial setups across the province.

According to the notification, the minimum monthly wage will come into effect from July 1, 2025.

Sindh Labour Minister Shahid Thahim said that the monthly wage of semi-skilled workers has been fixed at Rs 41,380, the wage of skilled workers at Rs 49,628, and the wage of highly skilled workers at Rs 51,745.

This wage will apply equally to all registered and unregistered industrial and commercial offices, while male and female workers will be paid on an equal basis, he said.

All such establishments where workers are paid an hourly wage will have to ensure payment of at least Rs 192 per hour.

He further said that the Sindh government is pursuing labor-friendly policies and is taking practical steps to ensure the welfare of the workers, fair wages, and a better work environment.

“The aim of increasing the minimum wage is to reduce inflationary pressures and provide a dignified life to the working class,” Thahim stated.

The Labor Department is in constant touch with the industrialists, and labor laws will be strictly implemented, he added.
