Sindh on high alert as thunderstorms forecasted from April 5

NDMA issues weather alert, heavy rain & thunderstorm expected

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms in Sindh from tomorrow, after which a high alert has been sounded.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, while talking to the media, said that after the forecast of rains in Sindh, a high alert has been sounded in all relevant institutions.

He said that rain is predicted in Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Qambar and Jamshoro, while the rains may intensify on April 6.

Sharjeel Memon said that effective drainage arrangements have been ensured in urban areas. The district administration, local bodies and rescue services have been mobilized. However, residents of low-lying areas should be careful and avoid unnecessary travel.

The provincial minister added that the government stands with the farmers and will compensate for the losses. Farmers are being provided assistance to protect their crops.
