Six killed in Islamabad wedding gas cylinder explosion

Gas leakage blows house in Attock, 9 injured

ISLAMABAD:  At least 6 people died in a gas cylinder explosion in Sector G-72, Islamabad.

A wedding ceremony was underway at the house, the gas cylinder explosion occurred due to gas leakage, four houses have been affected by the explosion.

Rescue activities are ongoing, several people were buried under the rubble, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Sahibzada Yousaf reached the spot on the instructions of DC Islamabad.

He said that several houses were affected as a result of the explosion, a total of 15 people were taken out of the houses, 6 people out of the 15 rescued people have died. The deceased include the bride and groom.

9 other injured people have been immediately shifted to the hospital due to the explosion, PIMS Hospital was alerted after the incident, rescue operations are underway, all the people have been rescued.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Sahibzada Yousaf has said that the reasons will be determined after the rescue operation is completed.
