SJC endorsed draft of Service Rules 2025, review complaints

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has endorsed the draft of SJC Service Rules 2025 and reviewed 24 complaints, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).

Senior Pusine Judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Lahore High Court’s Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, and Sindh High Court’s Chief Justice Junaid Ghaffar attended the meeting as council members, the SJC said in a statement issued on Saturday.

The session evaluated the 24 complaints made under Article 209, 19 of which were unanimously rejected. “The remaining five complaints were deferred for the time being”.

The Council stressed the importance of further legal assessment of the code of conduct revisions, as well as more consultations on the inquiry mechanism.

According to sources, the Supreme Judicial Council rejected a move to make the judges’ identities public after investigating accusations against them.

The SJC, as a constitutionally constituted body, plays an important role in addressing judicial complaints and reviewing performance in order to maintain the integrity of the justice system and strengthen public trust.
